Installation

Download

Download the latest release from reforgesoftware.com:

Package Description
Reforge-Setup-x.x.x.exe Recommended. Installs to %LocalAppData%\Reforge\, registers .cgm file associations, and optionally adds the CLI to your PATH.
Reforge-x.x.x-portable.zip No installation required. Extract and run Reforge.exe.
reforge-linux-x64.tar.gz Linux CLI only. See Linux CLI.

System requirements

Operating System Windows 10 or later (64-bit) GUI and Windows CLI
.NET Runtime None Bundled. Reforge ships self-contained, so no separate .NET install is needed.
WebView2 Runtime Any recent version Required for Preview & Compare. Included on Windows 11; may need separate install on Windows 10.
RAM 4 GB minimum 8 GB recommended for large batch jobs

Running the installer

  1. Double-click the .exe installer.
  2. Follow the on-screen prompts. No administrator rights are required.
  3. Optionally enable Add CLI to PATH to run reforge from any terminal.
  4. Click Finish to launch Reforge.

SmartScreen warning

The installer is not currently code-signed, so Windows Defender SmartScreen may show a “Windows protected your PC” warning the first time you run it.

  1. Click More info.
  2. Click Run anyway.

Installing WebView2

If the Preview & Compare tab appears blank on Windows 10:

  1. Visit the WebView2 download page.
  2. Download and run the Evergreen Standalone Installer.
  3. Restart Reforge.
